Jessica Kain is a track/cross country athlete born in Scotts Valley, California. She was born to Shari and Pete Kain. Her mother was a volleyball player at UC Santa Barbara and her father played the water polo sports at Whittier College. She completed two meets outdoor, and was part of the Distance Medley Relay team at the UW Invitational that finished in 12:12.55. She also ran the mile at the Don Kirby Elite Invite (5:30.52). Kain attended Scotts Valley High School where she was an All-State selection. She made the XC State meet three times and once in track (1600m), finished 18th in the XC State meet as a freshman. She earned a 13th place finish in the 1,600m in her senior year, had the best time in the 1,600m was 4:56.30 and was named Team MVP four times.
